Former Wise Guys member Ron Antonio has found a new career as a Zumba instructor. Wise Guys was a singing group formed during the time of “That’s Entertainment” that also had Joaquin Garcia and Edgar Tejada as members.

When the group disbanded, Ron went solo. He released an album under Ivory Records. That was also the time he got interested in Zumba. He trained for Zumba to become a licensed instructor and put up his own dance studio. He said he inherited his love for dancing from his parents.

Why did he got interested in  Zumba? “Kasi nakita ko na ‘yun ang medyo magki-click. Nakita ko talaga because it is dancing and it is related to what I do,” said Ron in a recent interview.

Happening tomorrow in Camarines Sur is the Biggest Zumba Class in the World (Official Guinness World Record Attempt) and Ron is leading the historic attempt.

Aside from teaching Zumba, he is the first Filipino Zumba instructor to release a Zumba-inspired dance album titled “Zayaw Pilipinas” under MCA Music Universal Records. The album contains eight tracks and is all OPM (Original Pilipino Music).

“Zumba is good for the health. It not only makes you feel good, it also helps you to become fit,” said Ron who regularly tours the Philippines and other countries to promote Zumba as a fitness regimen and as a bonding time for families.

He not only dances but he also sings. His tours have attracted many people and are always jam-packed. He also holds Zumba classes regularly for small groups.

He is happy that the songs in his “Zayaw Pilipinas” album are also used by other Zumba instructors in their classes. Ron is set to release his new album of Zumba music. While he used to be a balladeer when he was still with the Wise Guys, Ron has found a new niche as a Zumba dance artist.

“I never imagined that Zumba will open new doors for me in the entertainment scene,” said Ron. He recalled discovering Zumba six years ago while working out in a gym in Australia. He has always been into fitness and Zumba was perfect for the singer-dancer in him. He said the Philippines is a Zumba country and he is confident that they will set a new Guinness record.

Chinese multi-medalist, mixed martial arts athlete and actor Dennis To, and Filipino One Championship World Champion Brandon Vera officially signed the agreement with movie studios Reality Entertainment from the Philippines and Sunson Group Limited from Hong Kong last Saturday, May 12, to pair up in an action movie to be directed by Chinese and British national Sean Yim. It is set to be released in both countries early 2019.

The film with the working title “The Wind Breezes On” is about two fathers whose worlds collide when Ko, played by To, a former bodyguard from Hong Kong, and Brandon Vera, an undercover cop from Manila, team up in a mutual hunt for vengeance and salvation.

According to Reality Entertainment Producers Dondon Monteverde and Larry Ang, 70 percent of the film will be shot in the Philippines while the remaining will be shot in Hong Kong. This partnership with Chinese producers Bruce Lee and Nicole Tong marks the first collaboration of the two studios aiming to bring more action movie fanatics to the cinemas via world-class action packed films.

“The Wind Breezes On” is Vera’s third feature film after the much-anticipated debut in Erik Matti’s “Buy Bust” and will be prioritized after filming his solo movie about zombie apocalypse this June under Reality Entertainment.

Both Vera and To expressed excitement in being given the chance to work in the film. Cameras are set to roll this November for “The Wind Breezes On.”
