CEBU, Philippines - Fresh from his successful show in Hong Kong last week, Mister World 2016 first runner-up Fernando Alvarez is gearing up for another project. The hot Latino, who proudly tags himself as Pinoy-Rican, will lead a team of male celebrities for a basketball showdown against the Association of Barangay Captains of Urdaneta City at the city’s sports complex in Pangasinan this Sunday, December 4.
The fundraising game dubbed as “Basketball with the Stars” will include the past, present and future New Placenta for Men endorsers and ambassadors such as Mister Manhunt International 2012 Jun Macasaet; Mister International 2013 third runner-up Gil Wagas of Cebu; actors Dion Ignacio, Dex Quindoza, Lance Serrano and Kris Martinez; and Mister Olive-C Campus Model Philippines 2014 Ryan Paul Artienda. The proceeds of the event will all go to the charity projects of Psalmstre.
Produced by Jim Acosta of CreWorks Asia, this event is presented by Psalmstre Enterprises in cooperation with Urdaneta City Council, Spring Land Resort Pangasinan, 106.7 Energy FM, and Ms. Emilia Nidoy-Daraman.
Fernando has been in the Philippines – which he considers his second home – for almost two months now. The model and university student is determined to find his niche in the local showbiz industry, just like his kababayan Miss Universe 2003 Dayanara Torres. To make this plan work, he juggles acting workshops and Filipino-language tutorials despite his busy schedule as endorser, corporate host and pageant judge.
Before he will leave for Puerto Rico to celebrate Noche Buena with his family, Fernando is set to return to Cebu on December 14 to meet all his Cebuano fans.
“See you all my Cebuano fans. I will celebrate early Christmas with you, my lucky charm,” was Fernando’s message to Cebuanos whom he always recognizes as the first ones who let him feel like a celebrity after he graced a Psalmstre float during a Sinulog grand parade. (FREEMAN)
