‘Chief Baker’ back for season 2
CEBU, Philippines - The Philippines’ largest neighborhood bakeshop, Julie’s Bakeshop, is set to make waves again on local television.
Julie’s Bakeshop brings back Julie’s Chief Baker- Student Edition Season 2. The reality TV show featuring student bakers from the top culinary schools in the Visayas is back for another season of extreme bake-offs. The comeback season will be featuring nine episodes that will air from October to December on TV5 within the Visayas and Mindanao and in Luzon on cable.
The show aims to highlight the skills, creativity and ingenuity of the student bakers in coming up with new recipes, and their ability to adapt with their fellow student bakers and to the competition environment. Aside from having the opportunity to learn from kitchen veterans, they will also experience the thrill and excitement of being on a competitive reality TV show where their competitive school spirit and their motivation to succeed get tested.
Julie’s has long been a household name among homemakers since its inception over 35 years ago. Today, it strives to reach out to the younger generation through the Julie’s Chief Baker- Student Edition Season 2.
Hosted by Michael Karlo Lim with co-host Chef Jed Gajudo, ISCAHM chef, the Julie’s Chief Baker-Student Edition Season 2 show will surely keep audiences on their toes following every exciting episode that will have time-bounded challenges and the surprise ingredients for enhancements will only be announced on the shooting day as well. Students will work on their ingredients on hand and will do bread costing to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
The thrill then goes from the kitchen to the judging table pf the show’s three judges: Chef Sean McSavaney (head judge, ISCAHM Cebu and Director of Culinary Arts), Chef Erica Neal So (pastry chef and entrepreneur) and Carlos Veridiano (Julie’s Franchise Corporation, Franchise Operations Director) bring their appetites and discerning palates to the “Chief Baker” set to give their truthful opinions to the aspiring bakers.
Weekly challenges include, but are not limited to the following recipes: healthy breads fried breads, loaf breads, holiday/celebration cakes, bread with fillings, Pinoy delicacies, and others. Of course, surprise ingredients can come in anytime during the season.
Apart from being awarded as the second Julie’s Chief Baker-Student Edition winner, the winning school will receive P300,000 cash and winning members will receive P30,000 each.
The first runners-up will be awarded P100,000 for their school and winning team members will receive P20,000 each. Second runners-up will receive P15,000 for each team member. All non-winning schools will receive P10,000 per team.
Participating schools will also have a chance to win an additional cash prize of P100,000. Students simply need to write their names and contact details at the back of Julie’s receipts worth P50 and drop it in their school boxes. The school with the most number of entries wins P100,000 for their HRM facilities and students who participate in the promo will also have a chance to be one of the five winners of special prizes.
The 12 competing schools vying for the Julie’s Chief Baker title are: Asian College of Technology, Cebu Eastern College, Cebu Technological University-Camotes Campus, Cebu Technological University-Danao Campus, DMDP Cebu, Golden Success College, Mandaue City College, St. Cecilia’s College, TESDA Tubigon, University of Cebu-Main Campus, MGB Cebu, and University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
