CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Film Market and Expo (CFMX) 2015 on August 16-17 gathers filmmakers, producers, financiers, distributors, Cebu International Documentary Film (CIDFF) partners, Cebu export manufacturers, and other big players in the filmmaking industry from the Philippines and abroad.
The film market and expo will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. It is an avenue for buyers, not limited to Asian countries, to invest in Cebuano market trends and products and services.
The market and expo is where filmmakers can submit film projects, fiction or non-fiction, and seek opportunities for funding and recognition. It is where producers, financiers and distributors share their local background and information for listing in the Market Guide.
The expo is also where broadcast and equipment manufacturer, suppliers and distributors showcase and present their product lines, and where large networks of media professionals all throughout the Philippines and abroad can promote a socially relevant cause and gain positive impact.
April Dequito, executive director of the CIDFF, said the film market and expo is the ultimate playground for the film industry players. It is patterned after the Cannes Film Market, the largest film and market info in the world.
She added that filmmaking isn’t only about film directors and talents, it also needs the involvement of financiers, such as banks, insurance firms, among others. It also needs other supply distributors like suppliers of camera and other equipment.
The film market and expo is an opportunity to learn more about the business of film, and the great potential it brings to Cebu in terms of tourism, investments, growth and development of the creative, media and entertainment sectors.
Participants can join in the Business Matching, Pitching Forum, Film Screening, Production Talks and Workshops from international and local resource persons like Bryan Storkel, Timm Doolen, Carlos Mendoza, and Crispo Mojica.
The film market and expo is part of the 4th Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) on August 15-21. The CIDFF serves as benchmark for all documentary filmmakers, film producers and global media interested to come to Cebu for a film event. It aims to bring a diverse global audience to Cebu.
