The tandem of Jake Vargas and Bea Binene gets its biggest break as the love team topbill “Liwanag sa Dilim,” the biggest and much-awaited teen adventure movie of the year. They were tapped by APT Entertainment to be the headliners in this adventure-action movie that should test their mettle as a tandem.
It’s a big gamble for APT Entertainment to put their trust in the Ja-Bea screen pair. But “Liwanag sa Dilim” promises to prove to all and sundry that the Ja-Bea team-up is ripe for the picking. Not only do they look good together, they are also credible actors.
Directed by Richard Somes, the movie cast Ja-Bea as teenagers who stumbled on a secret of a mysterious woman (played by Sarah Lahbati) who lives in the mountains. Because of their curiosity, they place their lives in danger when a video of the woman that Jake took was uploaded on social media. Naturally, the woman vowed to get back at them. This is where their adventure of a lifetime begins.
“Jake and I are happy with the trust given to us by APT Entertainment to play the lead roles in this movie,” said Bea, who, aside from having a number of kilig scenes in the movie with Jake, also dabbled in action scenes with flying colors.
“Doing this movie is a different kind of experience for me. This is a big opportunity for me and Bea to show what we’ve got as actors. We play very challenging roles. We did several scenes that are difficult to do but our fans will also see kilig scenes,” added Jake who did a number of action scenes as well.
In her role as the mysterious woman living in the forest, Sarah Lahbati’s different look suited her perfectly. Her ethereal beauty was just right for the role that calls for mystery. She also admitted getting quite tired with a number of action scenes that she did, including ones that saw her flying while chasing Bea and Jake.
“Doing this film is really an awesome experience. The role is very difficult but since I have complete trust in my director, I just did what I was supposed to do, no questions asked. You just do the scene and hope it comes out well no matter the hardship you encountered while doing it,” said Sarah.
Even if there were a number of scenes of running and going up the mountain, the director didn’t forget the “kilig” scenes that the fans of Jake and Bea will look for. Jake and Bea’s roles will have an instant connection, and will then be exposed to danger and a different kind of adventure.
Providing comic relief as part of the barkada of Jake and Bea is Igi Boy Flores, who plays Bea’s best friend. He is a former mainstay of “Goin’ Bulilit” and is in the cast of ABS-CBN’s “Luv U.”
Also in the cast of “Liwanag sa Dilim” are Sunshine Cruz, Dante Rivero, Rico Blanco and Freddie Webb.
