It is rare to find someone who excels at almost anything that they do, much more with true discipline and bravado, and Toni Gonzaga easily is just that. She continues to captivate audiences with her natural wit and candor, smart loveliness, and class act all these years. And she still manages to shine despite her busy schedule, always mindful of her role as a celebrity, a model citizen, and as a trendy individual who keeps in step with what modern technology has to offer.
These attributes thus led the global IT giant Acer, Inc., to introduce Toni as its latest brand ambassador for the Acer Liquid line of smartphones. Aggressive, bold and innovative, the actress-singer perfectly captures the qualities of the Acer Liquid line as she now uses one of the line’s top-notch models, the Acer Liquid Jade.
The Acer Liquid Jade smartphone is designed for the go-getters and power users who demand seamless performance wherever they are – at work or at play. Its five-inch IPS HD screen allows convenient viewing of documents, photos and videos, each displayed in absolutely stunning quality.
As one who values technology as an important life component, Toni uses her Acer Liquid Jade to help her keep up with her busy lifestyle and achieve day-to-day goals, and finds that its cutting-edge features and capabilities can perfectly match her boundless energy on and off camera.
“Acer Liquid Jade is perfect for me because its features match and serve my lifestyle. It gives me everything I need for my work, and even helps me bond with my friends and family by keeping me in touch with them wherever and whenever I need to. It has become part of my life,” Toni explains.
She was formally unveiled as brand ambassador of the Acer Smartphones in a press conference at the Marco Polo Ortigas, Pasig City, and was welcomed by no less than the top honcho himself, Acer, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Jason Chen, who also talked about the promise of the Philippines especially in the mobile market in the coming years.
Also part of the Acer Mobility line launched is the Acer Iconia tablets such as the Acer Iconia Tab 8 (A1-840), Acer Iconia Tab 7 (A1-713) and Acer IconiaOne 7 (B1-730HD). The Entertainment Press Society, an organization of entertainment writers and columnists (of which yours truly is a member) recently held a gift-giving activity in cooperation with Puregold.
The event was held Wednesday, August 27, at the White Cross Orphanage in San Juan City where, for two hours, the Enpress members became surrogate parents to a number of children ages two years old and up. Each Enpress member took the task of taking care of a kid, feeding him, and for a while, made him feel what it is like to have a parent even for just few minutes. It was a fun and meaningful experience for the Enpress members who joined the project.
Aside from that, Enpress, through the kindness of Puregold, also donated some seven boxes of assorted grocery items, and cleaning materials like dust pan, mop with handle and soft brooms to White Cross.
“We are happy to be a part of this worthy endeavor and we would also like to express our thanks to Puregold for their generous donation which we shared with White Cross and the children. We hope to do this again,” echoed the Enpress members who joined the gift-giving activity.
The Entertainment Press Society is now preparing for its annual Golden Screen Awards. We are now on our 11th year and the awards night will be held sometime in October. Our timetable had been delayed since we usually hold our awards night in April but better late than never. What is important for us at Enpress is to come up with a credible line up of nominees and winners.
We are sure that the fans of our former alaga Donna Cruz, the original multi-media star of local showbiz, are beaming with pride after the former Viva star made herself visible again, but this time in social media.
Donna, who quit showbiz at the height of her popularity to get married to Dr. Yong Larrazabal of Cebu, did her own version of the Disney song “Let It Go” which quickly went viral after she posted it in her Facebook account on August 30, Saturday.
Captured using a smartphone, Donna was seen singing the popular “Frozen” soundtrack in front of a mirror in her dressing room. The former OPM singer, the voice behind the hit “Kapag Tumibok ang Puso,” “Rain” and “Habang May Buhay,” is very much active in social media.
Even in Cebu, she does shows once in a while. At times, she accepts acting assignments like a guest appearance she did in a GMA-7 show last year. “Sa ganitong paraan man lamang po makapag-share ako ng kahit papanong talent para sa inyo. Short lang pero sana magustuhan niyo,” Donna shared in her Facebook account.
As of this writing, the video already has 43,265 likes and 6,112 shares on Facebook. “Pag may request kayo na songs na feeling niyo eh bagay sa boses ko kung kakayanin kahit maikli lang eh kakantahin ko para sa inyo at kahit paano po, this way, kahit na hindi na po ako active sa industriya ay nakaka-share rin ako sa inyo ng aking pagkanta. Love you all,” she continued.

We would like to extend our condolences to the Eigenmann family on the passing of Mark Gil on Monday, September 1, due to liver cancer. Among his important films are “Batch 81” and “Palipat-lipat, Papalit-palit” for which he won a Gawad Urian for Best Supporting Actor.
His other film works include “Isang Ama, Dalawang Ina” (he was only 17 then), “Itanong Mo Sa Buwan,” and “Company of Women.” He was in the Cinema One Original movie “Philippino Story” shown last year where he gave a touching performance of a gay man for which he garnered an Urian best actor nomination. His last movie was “Ang Bagong Dugo,” shown last June.
The showbiz world is mourning the demise of a great actor. As long as there are movies, Mark Gil will always be remembered.
