CEBU, Philippines - For the seventh time in a row, Cebu is going to join hundreds of cities around the world in celebration of Fête de la Musique 2014. Originating from France, this festival, also known as World Music Day, is meant to celebrate the gift of music and make it available for free to all.
This year’s Fête de la Musique will be held this Saturday, June 21 with three simultaneous stages in La Vie Parisienne – The Pink House which will start at 5 p.m., The Terraces, Ayala at 4 p.m., and The Walk, IT Park at 6 p.m.
Prior to the main event, there will be a pre-Fête de la Musique event on Friday, June 20 which starts at 7 p.m. at the gardens of La Vie Parisienne – The Pink House located at 371 Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City beside the Mormon Temple. Admission is free.
Fête de la Musique 2014 will be showcasing a variety of the best Cebuano musicianship and artistry of all kind: pop, indie, tribal, folk, ukulele, jazz, funk, ska, choral, alternative rock, etcetera.
The event will also feature two French DJs specially coming in the Philippines for the occasion, DJ JON ATTENDS, who will play on June 20 and DJ M.MAT on June 21 along with performances from over 25 musical groups and bands from all over Cebu and three bands from Manila, namely Lions and Acrobats, Runway Crimes and Idioms and Dispositions.
Headlining the pre-Fete de la Musique event on June 20 will be DJ Jon Attends together with Made By Machina, Alejandria Jazz, POPDays and Hardwood. For the main event on June 21, performing at La Vie Parisienne will be Abyan Ensemble together with Flow Arts Cebu, Adrienne, Honeydrop, Ukelele Cebu, KaapiN, Sunday Sunday, Alejandria Jazz, Snubear, Soda Can Genie, Hardwood, Idioms and Dispositions, Kinsa, Sheila and the Insects and DJ M.Mat.
Performing at The Terraces in Ayala are Drums and Bible, Ukelele Cebu, Cre8ive Thespians, Abyan Ensemble together with Flow Arts Cebu, Snubear, Sunday Sunday, Kinsa, Bethany, Drop Decay, Shuffled, Runway Crimes, Hardwood, Foc Fashion, Lions and Acrobats, The Line Divides and DJ M.Mat.
Performing at The Walk will be Paul Caca, Lyza Venice, Abyan Ensemble, KaapiN, Ivy Gallur with Mike Fegi, Uly Tenchavez and Boyet Pocong, Flirt, See the Arc and Adrienne.
