CEBU, Philippines - Four pairs of the country’s most promising teens emerged victorious during the much awaited finals night of the annual nationwide search for Mr. & Ms. Olive C Campus Model held last Friday, May 30, at Skydome in SM North Edsa.
Besting 40 other national finalists and soon to formally join the CREWorks Asia family are the recently declared grand winners and Mr. & Ms. Luzon, Mr. & Ms. Visayas, and Mr. & Ms. Mindanao pairs as Olive C soap’s newest brand endorsers and ambassadors.
After a segment showcasing Whoops designs, all 48 candidates sashayed on stage donning Sonny Boy Mindo’s elegant formal wear collection. All stunning in intricate designs and subtle colors, the candidates were trimmed down to 12 pairs who appeared back on stage showing their buffed bodies in swimwear especially designed for the event by Sonny Boy Mindo.
Eight top scoring pairs in both formal wear and swim wear advanced to the semifinal round, breezing easily during the Q&A and eliciting more cheers from the audience and their families until the Top 4 pairs were called and grilled for another round of Q&A, this time from each of the judges, to determine their rankings.
Gaining the judges’ nods were candidate #1, Virgilio Pedrena Jr. and candidate #2, Lyka Dela Cruz both from FEU as Mr. & Ms. Olive-C 2014 Mindanao; candidate #5, Chester Padilla of Columban College, Inc. and candidate #21, Mhon Therese Menaling of Cebu Doctor’s University as Mr. & Ms. Olive-C 2014 Visayas; candidate #21, Christian Alano from Colegio de San Lorenzo and candidate #11, Clarise Perez from PUP-Manila as Mr. & Ms. Olive-C 2014 Luzon. Bagging the major titles as Mr. & Ms. Olive-C Campus Model 2014 are candidate #17 Ryan Paul Artienda of UE-Recto and candidate #12 Ashleigh Nordstrom of Saint Paul University, Quezon City.
Aside from bagging the coveted titles, Ryan Paul and Clarise were declared Best in Summer Wear, Lyka was hailed as Best in Production Number and Best in Evening Gown, Ashleigh as Best in Talent and Mhon Therese as Best in Festival Costume.
The distinguished panel of judges was a mix of pageant, academe, and industry leaders led by Miss Philippines Earth 2012 and New Placenta endorser Stephany Stefanowitz; Solar News weather and features host, Patricia Fernandez; reigning Manhunt International and New Placenta for Men enÂdorser, June Macasaet; import and export operation analyst of Market Reach International, Mr. Pracash Harwani; owner of Katja’s Authentic Boutique and Shem of Pilapil of SGP Production, Cathy Orais; dean of the Informatics-Diliman College of Business and Management, Alex Moico; fashion events director, model discoverer and mentor Cata Figueroa and Psalmstre Enterprises Inc. president and CEO, Jaime V. Acosta.
Part of the event highlights was the performance of reigning Mr. & Ms. Olive-C 2013 Joefel Alas and Chelsea Starling who performed a rousing dance number of Jason Derulo’s ‘Talk Dirty To Me.’ The all-boy group Upgrade also performed much to the delight of the crowd especially the girls, giving everyone an adrenaline rush. Hiro Magalona-Peralta, the first Mr. Olive-C grand winner, serenaded the twelve finalists with a performance of One Direction’s “Little Things†and John Legend’s “All of Me.â€
The fourth Mr. & Ms. Olive C Campus Model grand coronation night was hosted by “Walang Tulugan with the Master showman†mainstay John Nite, Miss Philippines Earth 2007 Jeanne Harn, and resident pharmacist Zander Bautista as the segment host.
The Mr. & Ms. Olive-C Campus Model Search 2014 is presented by Informatics College, Sitio Antonio Wave Pool Resort, Whoops, Sundance/Fashion Exchange, Unisilver Time, RRCG transport, Fisher Mall, Santa Lucia Mall, MyPhone, Katja’s Authentic Boutique, Blue Jaz Resort – Samal Island, Cardams Shoes, David Gillinsky, Goldwin Manufacturing Laboratory Corporation, and OneChem.
