Mrs. Philippines Globe 2014 selects three Cebu finalists
CEBU, Philippines - Out of nine aspirants, three Cebuanas were chosen to represent Cebu in this year’s Mrs. Philippines-Globe pageant. The regional selection was held March 15 at PAGCOR’s Casino Filipino, with national pageant director Morena Carla Quimpo and previous winners/runners-up in attendance for the screening panel.
After a Q&A, casual and evening gown fashion show, three ladies were chosen to represent Cebu in the national pageant happening this May. They are: Stephanie Sitoy, Czarina Cheloe Ylaya (former Miss Cebu runner-up, “Sabado Na Gyud†host and ABS-CBN Cebu actress) and Jedalyn Sator.
The trio will compete against other married women or single mothers (who epitomize beauty, elegance and substance and advocate empowerment) from all over the country for the title of Mrs. Philippines Globe 2014, who will then represent the country in the September international Mrs. Globe finals.
Filipinas have been sent as contestants to Mrs. Globe since 2010, but it was only in 2012 that a bet was chosen via a beauty pageant. For the first two years, candidates were just selected from previous beauty contest winners. Last year, the pageant also opened its doors to single moms.Founded in 1996, Mrs. Globe is one of the biggest international pageants for married women with 40 countries usually participating. More than just a celebration of beauty, Mrs. Globe in the US is a fund-raiser of The Women In Need (W.I.N.) Foundation, an outreach that specializes in self-esteem recovery for women and children faced with all kinds of abuse. Country delegates serve as spokeswomen for W.IN.
Aiming to be known as an organization that doesn’t discriminate, Mrs. Philippines Globe is open to single mothers (not required to be married) and those annulled or separated are welcome to join. To further qualify, one must be a Filipino citizen, between 26-45 years old, at least 5’4â€, in swimsuit shape, of good moral character, college level and willing to travel outside the Philippines to participate in the international pageant. – VAB
