CEBU, Philippines -Kapamilya TV host-actress and Viva contract star KC Concepcion is the 2013 Tanduay Rhum calendar girl. She was introduced in a posh launching at Skye at W at Bonifacio High Street, where she regaled the audience as she danced with the G-Force dancers wearing a body-hugging red dress that showed her curvaceous figure.
The members of the press, who were following the career of the only daughter of showbiz royalty Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion were momentarily taken aback when they learned that KC has agreed to do sexy poses for the liquor brand which had been around since 1864, thus carrying a strong tradition that had been passed on to younger generations.
From the prim and proper lady, KC is showing the other side of her by doing sexy poses. This is the 12th year of KC as a product endorser and she believes the timing is just right for her to do sexy poses for a calendar. KC is aware that many people, including the members of the press, might be surprised with her going sexy for a calendar pictorial but she would like to give credit to the liquor brand for its support and for giving her “full creative freedom” for the 12 poses that she will do together with ace photographer Marc Nicdao, stylist Pam Quinones and hair stylist Celeste Tuviera.
But KC assured her fans, as well as the press, that she won’t go overboard or go beyond the limits that she has set for herself. “I won’t do anything that would make my fans, family and me uncomfortable,” said the host of X-Factor Philippines which had ended its stint on ABS-CBN a few weeks ago.
While she described herself as an “independent girl who can put a cap on things,” KC said she still would want balance for her career and image. Although the public might get the wrong signal and believe that doing the sexy pose for the calendar is a drastic move on her part, KC considers it an artistic endeavor.
“Since I was born until I left for abroad to study and live solo, until I came back and tried my hand in mainstream showbiz, my fans are used to seeing different sides of me. This is a different side of me but I still have my limits. I may go daring but it depends on the project,” shared KC.
She was first offered the role that Andi Eigenmann played in A Secret Affair but she felt she wasn’t ready at that time so she turned it down.
That KC is doing something should not come as a surprise to her fans. Some years ago, she agreed to appear on a billboard wearing a bikini for the clothing brand Bayo. Last February, she did a sexy pictorial for Rogue Magazine which her mom Sharon find tastefully done. That’s why she doesn’t think her mom would react violently to her doing sexy poses for Tanduay Rhum’s 2013 calendar.
“I believe my pictorial for Rogue was sexier compared for the poses I did for the rum calendar. My mom has been very supportive and I believe she is happy with my decision. Besides, it was Viva which decided that I accept the offer of Tanduay to be their calendar girl. It was Mama who brought me to Viva which had been managing me since last year and I know Mama trusts Viva would take good care of me,” KC added.
When asked to comment on the issue involving Sharon and her bashers on Twitter, KC says she understands the sentiments of her mom. “Some bashers were really getting overboard. But being a mother, my mom always gets hurt more when I am bashed. It is a natural reaction for a mother to go to the defense of her child. So even though I tell her and assure her that I am okay, I understand where she is coming from. She is just being protective, just like any mother.”
