SSS calls on members to update contact info

CEBU, Philippines —The Social Security System (SSS) is calling on its members to update their contact information, particularly mobile numbers, as the organization rolls out Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for its My.SSS online portal.

SSS Officer-in-Charge Voltaire P. Agas said that SSS took a proactive security measure, noting that the new MFA process aims to enhance the protection of member accounts.

“This added authentication step will strengthen the security of the SSS online portal,” Agas said.

To log in, members will now receive a passcode sent directly to their registered mobile numbers. However, outdated or inactive numbers may disrupt the login process.

“Updating your contact info ensures that you receive the codes needed to verify your identity,” Agas added, urging members to check and update their information.

Members can update their mobile numbers through their My.SSS accounts or at any SSS branch.

Those without a registered number can submit a Member Data Change Request form at an SSS branch nationwide.

To further support members, SSS offers e-centers in branches with staff on hand to assist those navigating the portal.

Enhanced Security Options

SSS Senior Vice President for Information Technology Management Maria Belinda S. San Jose announced two MFA options for My.SSS login: the SMS One-Time Password (SMS-OTP) and the Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP).

By default, members receive a six-digit SMS-OTP sent to their registered mobile number to verify their login. Alternatively, members can use TOTP via Google Authenticator to access their accounts.

“These options offer an enhanced security layer, reducing the risks of unauthorized access and fraud,” San Jose explained, urging members to update their contact numbers to avoid login issues.

The SSS advises all members to ensure their contact information is current to seamlessly access the My.SSS portal and benefit from the new security features.
