CEBU, Philippines — Vertically-integrated lodging operator, The Ascott Limited, announced the opening of residential and serviced apartment suites in Mandaue City, under its brand Citadines in 2027 called “Vitale Suites.”

The project, in partnership with Cebu grown property developer Worldwide Central Properties Inc., will provide a total of 233 residential units and 150 service apartment suites that will be managed by Ascott’s Citadines brand.

According to Ascott Philippines country general manager Philip Barnes, the company is thrilled to enter Mandaue City’s residential and accommodation sector, considering that this emerging, industrial city is one of the untapped locations in Metro Cebu, in terms of serviced apartment accommodations, and residential facilities.

“We are excited for Mandaue City because there are a lot of untapped corporates that want to stay in the area but they don’t have the options. And this is (Citadines Mandaue Cebu) going to be one of their spectacular options,” said Barnes in an interview during the project’s recently held ceremonial ground breaking.

The Philippines, Barnes stressed has big potential for growth in both tourism and residential real estate sectors.

“The Philippines has seen good returns in real estate per square meter, so I think that will continue,” Barnes said adding that on the hospitality side, he overly optimistic. “You see the developments coming through and we are just at the beginning of our launch.”

Barnes said together with Worldwide Central Properties Inc., the project, Vitale Suites, will primarily target transient guests, as well as those executives from the industrial, logistics and manufacturing companies, who have headquarters and offices in Mandaue City.

Located on a 1,556 square meters property along F. Cabahug Street in Mandaue City, Vitale Suites in the second project partnership with Ascott Limited and Worldwide Central Properties Inc., after the successful “The Suites at Gorordo” (TSAG), under Ascott’s Somerset brand.

Both the Suites at Gorordo and Vitale Suites will bring in the Singapore-inspired living in the Metro Cebu.

Worldwide Central Properties Inc., chief operating officer (COO) Sharon Ong, said its entry to Mandaue City is influenced by the encouraging market response of STAG project in Cebu City which is set for turn-over to unit owners before the end of 2024.

At present, Ascott Limited has four properties operating in Metro Cebu under the Citadines and Somerset brands.

According to Ong, the Vitale Suites in Mandaue City is designed to raise the bar higher in residential condominium development in the City, emphasizing its commitment on inclusivity.

In its inclusivity thrust, Ong explained that the development gives special attention to individuals with limited mobility, such as installing wheelchair-friendly condominium units.

About 36 accessible units will be built on the seventh and eighth floors of 23-story tower with a room size of 33.8 square meters for studio suites and 47.6 square meters for one-bedroom suites. Ong emphasized that these units will each have wheelchair-friendly amenities such as lowered kitchen cabinets, among others.

On the other hand, Vitale Suites’ hospitality component, which will bring in 150 serviced apartment suites, is expected to add Mandaue City’s overall accommodation portfolio.

Worldwide Steel Group Inc., chief executive officer (CEO) Leslie Ong-Ngo said the entry of Citadines Mandaue Cebu, aims to support the City’s growth, by providing additional facilities in leisure and business accommodations.

The hotel services of Citadines will also be available to the residents including, among others, housekeeping, babysitting, laundry and dry cleaning and rental of selected facilities for a fee.
