CEB adds new daily Cebu-Taipei flights
CEBU, Philippines — Strengthening Cebu’s connection to international destinations, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) announced the opening of its newest overseas route, connecting Cebu and Taipei, Taiwan.
Officially opened on June 23, 2023, this development bolsters Cebu’s potential to capitalize on the “revenge travel” phenomenon for both inbound and outbound passengers.
“We welcome Cebu Pacific Air’s new route connecting Cebu and Taipei with much delight,” said Athanasios Titonis, Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) CEO Assigned to MCIA.
Titonis said this additional flight further strengthens its commitment to providing passengers with a diverse range of travel options and convenient connectivity.
“We are confident that his new route will contribute to the growth of tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Cebu and Taipei.”
Operating with A320 aircraft boasting a seating capacity of 180, the new route features daily flights from Cebu to Taipei, providing travelers with enhanced flexibility and convenience for their travel options. Whether traveling for business or leisure, passengers can look forward to a comfortable flight that meets their travel needs and preferences.

To celebrate the inaugural flight, MCIA prepared a water cannon salute and giveaways to its passengers. This event marks a significant milestone in the airport’s journey towards enhancing air connectivity and fostering stronger relationships with airline partners.
MCIA is the second-largest airport in the Philippines. It serves over 10 million foreign and local passengers yearly, making it the second busiest airline hub in the country. It is operated by a Filipino-led private consortium between Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC), GMR Group of India, and Megawide Construction Corporation (MCC), under a concession agreement with the Philippine Government. — (FREEMAN)
