CIB.O, Jobtarget spearhead Cebu Interschool Hackathon
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu IT-BPM Organization, in collaboration with its program partner, Jobtarget, successfully organized and hosted the inaugural Cebu Interschool Hackathon competition on May 25, 2023.
The event took place at the prestigious Cebu Northwinds Hotel, situated in the heart of Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City, Cebu. This groundbreaking competition brought together the brightest minds in technology and coding from various schools across Cebu City, with the aim of fostering healthy competition and nurturing future talent in IT and Software Development.
Supported by esteemed corporate partners, QBE Shared Group Services Centre and TrustArc Philippines, the hackathon witnessed the active participation of 23 teams representing 12 esteemed universities, colleges, and campuses in Cebu City. The overwhelming response and exceptional performance of the participants made the event an unprecedented success, reinforcing the city's reputation as a hub for technological innovation and talent.
The Cebu Interschool Hackathon was co-presented by JobTarget.Com, a renowned platform connecting job seekers and employers, along with the esteemed corporate partners TrustArc Philippines and QBE Group Shared Services Centre. Throughout the entire day, participants showcased their skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, competing in various challenges designed to push their boundaries and showcase their coding prowess.
At the conclusion of the event, the top three teams were honored for their remarkable skills and talent:
1st Placer – Team Snooze from the University of San Jose-Recoletos

3rd Placer – Team Soli Deo Gloria from University of Cebu – Lapu-lapu and Mandaue

The winning team, Team Snooze from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, demonstrated their exceptional talent by developing an innovative app called "WERK." This groundbreaking application revolutionizes the job-seeking experience by reimagining the frontend of job platforms and embedding employee-employer metadata clustering for efficient job matching.
Their outstanding achievement and unparalleled dedication secured them the well-deserved first place, surpassing teams from other esteemed educational institutions.
