CEBU, Philippines —  Homegrown specialty Philippine coffee chain Bo’s Coffee announced the opening of its biggest outlet ever installed at the war-torn Marawi City in Mindanao, staking a long-term commitment to the city’s post-war rehabilitation efforts.

The Cebuano-owned coffee chain brand has started its post-pandemic reset with the opening of a 250-seater café in the center of the Marawi City district, signifying market confidence in the area, in time when the entire economy is on its way up after the challenging two-year COVID-19 outbreak ordeal.

Now operating with over 100 Bo’s Coffee outlets around the Philippines, the company is poised to add at least 20 more coffee shops this year starting with the opening of its biggest outlet in the country, in Marawi City.

With a total of 882.56 sqm floor space, the store concept and design carefully took into consideration and weaved in Marawi’s notable sense of connectedness to its community which is rich in spiritual and cultural histories.

According to the company, design inspirations of the outlet were taken from the Sarimanok, the Malong, and the Torogan House.

The legendary Sarimanok, an ubiquitous symbol of Maranao art, lends its colors to the interiors with a subtle, playful approach. The fabric on the ceiling and walls uses Malong, the traditional garment of mainland Mindanao, instead of the usual furniture cover.

The Torogan house traditionally symbolizing high social status, is reflected in the ceiling and bar counters in a modernized design approach. All these starts and end with the 360-degree panoramic view of Marawi City.

While happiness is assured in a cup of Bo’s Coffee even in the direst of post-war situations, the brand’s presence in Marawi more importantly ensures the provision of employment and business opportunities in the area for a long-term period. In helping Marawi churn its economy, Bo’s Coffee provides its people with a long-term livelihood aside from a world-class coffee experience.

For 27 years, Bo’s Coffee has promised its market delicious and homegrown products and it has been able to achieve such promise because of the richness and diversity of resources all over the Philippines. But in times of war and calamities, the communities that serve as gatekeepers to these resources take the brunt of the damage and deserve long-term support from all sectors of society that get to use these resources.

Founded by Cebuano businessman Steve Benitez, Bo’s Coffee is a specialty Philippine coffee chain with over 100 stores all over the Philippines, 9 in Qatar and 2 in the UAE.

Bo’s Coffee prides itself on flavor profiles that have striking taste and body that truly epitomize the rich diversity of their geographies. Its Philippine Coffee Origins beans are sourced from the mountains Sagada, Benguet, Mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Matutum, and Mt. Apo. Each region, climate, and culture contribute to the dis<nct flavor profile found only in the Philippines.

Bo’s Coffee is known as a big supporter of Philippine Coffee Origins, helping the growth of coffee farming around the Philippines. The local brand which successfully challenged head-on the global coffee brand giants is also an advocate of Philippine Coffee Origins, Pinoy coffee culture. It also supports, and services local start-ups and social enterprises, as well as showcases the Filipino brand of hospitality in every Bo’s Coffee experience.
