PCCI elects Melanie Ng as Central Visayas regional governor
CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has elected Cebuana business leader Melanie Ng to lead the Central Visayas business community.
A former president of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Ng is now the PCCI Regional Governor (RG) for Central Visayas, which has six chamber of commerce groups.
“As the regional representative of PCCI, RG's role is to act as mentor to the local chambers, be its guide in chamber development, concerns and issues. RG is the link, as after consulting with the local Chambers on advocacies and issues, sends reports and updates to the Visayas Area Vice President, Vice President for Regional Affairs and PCCI President and Board,” Ng explained her function as the PCCI Governor for Central Visayas.
An official turn-over ceremony will be held on February 22, 2022 from outgoing PCCI-CV Governor Edward Du of Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI).
According to Ng, the business sector in the region will soon be releasing a series of advocacies to address common issues such as; Pandemic Recovery and Resiliency Programs ; High Cost of Power and Fuel and Provision of Renewable Energy Source; Government Support for MSME Development; Regional Investment and Promotion Plans; Free Wifi Connectivity Projects and ; IT Infrastructure Development Plan; Road Widening, Road Development, Flood Control and Drainage Master Plan Projects; Intermodal Transport System; and Overall Lowering the Cost and Improving the ease of doing business in Region 7.
Within Central Visayas, there are six business organizations and these are CCCI, NOCCI, Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Panglao Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Siquijor Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
