CEBU, Philippines — Primary Group of Builders has announced its entry to full-service hospital business with the opening of its 100-bed The Hospital at Maayo.
“It’s a bold move, but we find it necessary to bring positive change in the [healthcare] industry,” said Primary Group chairman William Christopher U. Liu, Jr., in a press conference held yesterday, Dec 2, 2021.
The Group spent at least P5 billion to convert the Maayo medical facility, which used to offer out-patient service, to a full-fledged world-class hospital.
The Hospital at Maayo is a DOH and PhilHealth accredited 100-bed healthcare facility housed in a green building.
According to The Hospital at Maayo chief operating officer and medical director Dr. Lawrence Chad U. Liu, the Group’s entry to medical services sector is not just helping to fill in the shortage of hospital beds in Cebu, but it is also raising the bar in providing quality healthcare and amenities.
The Hospital at Maayo is a healthcare facility, which marriages hospitality with hotel-standard amenities and service.
With 200 accredited doctors across specialties, The Hospital at Maayo also offers a wide range of specialties, diagnostics and therapeutic services with the aim to give patients the best care that they deserve.
“Caring for patients is the essential purpose of a hospital. Here, at The Hospital at Maayo we strive to give personalized, patient-centric attention and care to our patients. Every part of the hospital, most especially our outpatient and inpatient departments are designed to enhance patient safety and comfort,” added Dr. Lawrence Chad U. Liu.
As part of the safety protocols, easy-to-clean materials are used all throughout the hospital to reduce infection rates. Its emergency and operating rooms are also designed as negative pressure environments. These areas use negative air pressure to prevent infectious germs from spreading and infecting other people. Negative pressure rooms are crucial in the case of a pandemic like Covid-19.
The hospital utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and the latest and most advanced technologies in giving medical assistance to patients. Its OR with five theaters, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular unit, ICU, NICU, and Labor and Delivery Rooms are said to be the best there is in Cebu.
Located along U.N. Avenue corner DM Cortes Street, Mandaue City, The Hospital at Maayo jumpstarts the Group’s long-term venture into healthcare business, including the community healthcare facility branded as San Lucas Medical, which now operates in Minglanilla, Cebu.
