Chamber Beat: CCCI, USAID partners for Youth Development Alliance program

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry partnered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for an upcoming program under the Opportunity 2.0 project, which aims to improve education, employment, and livelihood outcomes for youth across 12 cities in the Philippines until 2025.

Primarily implemented by Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), CCCI and 11 other Chambers were invited to join the Youth Development Alliance (YDA) program which is an innovative strategy to promote multisectoral partnership and collaboration and catalyst for youth engagement and empowerment.

YDA acts as a critical driver of out-of-school youth program development and implementation by facilitating three critical processes: i) multisectoral partnership and collaboration, ii) youth empowerment, and iii) data-based collaborative planning and strategic decision-making.

The program’s objective is to give the youth the opportunity to attain competencies that will qualify them for gainful employment and gainful self-employment.

The YDA program is also in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Local Government Units (LGUs), private sector, and program partners: SEAMEOINNOTECH, Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), Accenture, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
