CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) launches the Mandaue Business Month (MBM 2020) this month, zooming in to prepare the business sector to a better normal.
Bannering the theme, “Unleashing Potentials, Igniting Possibilities to a Better Normal”, the month-long event chaired by young businessman Kelie Ko, will highlight the adaptability of Mandaue City and the business community during crisis.
MCCI held a formal virtual launch of the Mandaue Business Month (MBM 2020), Monday August 31, 2020.
“Despite this what they call as ‘perfect storm’, we realized that all is not lost. We regain our balance and continue what needs to be done,” said MCCI president Steven Yu.
With the ongoing threat of the pandemic, MCCI’s programs and activities for the business month will mostly be held online throughout the month of September, making its events available for its members and partners located within and outside Mandaue and Cebu.
MBM encourages virtual learning as MCCI continues to provide more learning opportunities to its members and the business community through its webinar series dubbed as “Mandaue Talks Business: Zooming in to a Better Normal”.
This series particularly focuses on topics that aid business practitioners in establishing, reopening, and maintaining their businesses in the time of COVID-19, to effectively adjust to the “better normal”.
The MCCI Business Summit, MCCI’s annual MBM flagship event, will be held virtually as a two-day learning summit where business delegates can learn new ideas, business paradigms and technological advancements from top calibre speakers in the local and global landscape.
As MCCI’s way of adapting to the digital times, MCCI will be launching its very own Youtube channel where its past forums, seminars and events will be uploaded for public access and viewing. This is in alignment to MCCI’s goal of sharing and imparting innovative ideas and insights while building an online business community transcending geographical boundaries.
MCCI will be turning over donations of surgical masks, surgical gloves, face shields, alcohol and PPEs to Mandaue city frontliners in 27 barangays as response to their call for assistance.
Likewise, the business group is working together with the Mandaue Resilience Network and Cordaid in an urban farming initiative that aims to train urban farmers and help communities while encouraging self-sufficiency.
As part of its advocacy for the protection of the Butuanon River, MCCI partners again with the Mandaue LGU in building an eco-wall along the pilot areas to preserve the waterway.
The Chamber and its members will also be joining the Great Cebu Sale, the first digital sale that offers exceptional deals from various business industries to be held on September 15 to October 31.
The MBM 2020 formal launching was purposely held in simultaneous with the National Heroes’ Day, to pay tribute to the Mandaue City frontliners.
