CEBU, Philippines — AyalaLand Hotels and Resorts Corporation, the hospitality arm of Ayala Land Inc., opened its 11th Seda hotel property in the Philippines, at Cebu IT Park.
The 214-room Seda Central Bloc Cebu is the second Seda hotel in Cebu, the first one opened few years back, the Seda Ayala Center Cebu.
Despite the ongoing threat of Covid-19 virus, which pulled down revenues of tourism-related businesses like hotels, hotel manager Ron Y. Manalang expressed optimism of Cebu’s sustained strength in the hospitality market.
“There is always a replacement for a lost business,” said Manalang reinforcing the hotel’s confidence that tourism trade may experience downturn, but local market, specifically business-related bookings will offset the health crisis-induced revenue loss.
The 17-storey business hotel, which serves as the anchor destination of the Cebu Central Bloc, a self-contained Ayala Land community with retail, office and residential towers within the dynamic Cebu IT Park (CITP).
Of the total 214 rooms, 58 units of which are serviced residences, stacked on top of a three-storey mall designed to provide Seda guests easy access to a wide range of retail and dining options.
According to Andrea Mastellone, Seda’s senior group general manager, the hotel will cater to BPO firms already located in the 24-hour business district as well as those expanding from Metro Manila and other cities to Cebu in the next five years.
Seda Central Bloc Cebu’s serviced residences will cater primarily to young professionals and managers in the BPO industry staying long-term while its hotel rooms are targeted towards a broader market of leisure and business travelers. The latter include guests who will be attending conventions within CITP.
Seda Central Bloc Cebu’s hotel rooms will offer 28 sqms. while its studios to three-bedroom units will range from 30 sqm. to 90 sqm. An all-day dining outlet called Misto, swimming pool, meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 100 persons, a gym and Straight Up roof deck bar complete the hotel’s amenities.
Like all other Seda hotels, the Central Bloc property will offer a high-energy location within one of Cebu’s prime business districts “with everything they need within walking distance,” pointed out Mastellone.
