CEBU, Philippines — Over 11,000 local and overseas jobs are up for grabs at job fairs happening on Independence Day, June 12, in Central Visayas.
Department of Labor and Employment regional director Salome Siaton told The FREEMAN yesterday that at least three job fairs are taking place in Cebu, Negros Oriental and Bohol, posting a total of 11,672 job vacancies.
In Cebu, a local and overseas job fair is happening at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
According to Siaton, that will have at least 2650 local vacancies and 4440 jobs for overseas employment.
In Negros Oriental, jobseekers have the opportunity to visit a job fair taking place at the Lamberto L. Macias Sports and Cultural Center, with 1841 local and 843 overseas jobs available, Siaton said.
The Bohol job fair will be at the Tagbilaran City Hall Atrium, with 601 local and 1297 overseas job vacancies.
In total, the three job fairs offer at least 5092 local and 6580 overseas jobs.
According to DOLE, local jobs with the most number of vacancies include production machine operators, production/factory workers, customer service representatives, call center agents, sewers, sales clerks, cashiers, delivery crew, service crew and marketing officers.
For those seeking overseas employment, the top vacancies include cleaners, professional nurses, waiters/waitresses, service crew, company drivers, registered midwife, staff nurse, English teachers, janitress, barista, technicians and nursing aides.
The overseas job orders are for Germany, Japan, Bahrain and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Jobseekers are advised to visit the job fairs slated in their areas to help them land a work, as numerous employers are expected to be gathered in the events.
Applicants are told to be ready with their application requirements: resume or curriculum vitae (bring extra copies for multiple job applications); 2 x 2 ID pictures; certificate of employment for those formerly employed; diploma and/or transcript of records; and authenticated birth certificate.
The 121st Independence Day this year is observed with the theme, “Kalayaan 2019 Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan.” (FREEMAN)
