CEBU, Philippines — The Go Lokal! outlet in Ayala Center Cebu registered the highest sales among other Go Lokal! stores nationwide after barely over a month since it opened.
The 300 square meters stall in Ayala Center logged almost a million, or P898,391 since it opened on October 11 this year.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-7) regional director Asteria Caberte said this performance is so far record-breaking for Go Lokal! stores, that even the Go Lokal! store located at Duty Free Philippines in Manila is being challenged by the Cebu performance.
Historically, the Go Lokal! Duty Free Philippines fiesta mall in Pasay City is consistently the top performing outlet, now it’s being surpassed by the Ayala Cebu store, Caberte said.
DTI, in partnership with exporter Janeth Chua, opened the first Go Lokal! store in Cebu with 30’tenants.
Caberte said what boosted the sales of Cebu outlet is the interest of Cebuanos in buying locally-made but export quality products, especially bags, fashion accessories, and some food items.
“Cebu market is different, very sophisticated. When they like a product they buy it regardless of price tag,” said Caberte.
Just like other Go Lokal! stores around the country, tourists are the consistent customers.
What is surprising about Cebu’s performance, Caberte added is the fast movement of high-end products, which means that the most expensive items are more sellable.
