CEBU, Philippines — The Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc. formally turned-over a dragon boat to the Philippine Accessible Disability Services, Inc. (PADS) Adaptive Dragon Boat Team at Cebu Yacht Club, Lapu-Lapu City last May 27.
Established 12 years ago, PADS is a non-profit organization that aims to create a disability-inclusive society to inspire persons with disabilities to engage in sports. The PADS Adaptive Dragon Boat Racing Team is the first cross-disability team in the country.
The SHS-B Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc. was established in 2011. Among their many charitable and social projects are Artabang and Artabang II, art auctions for the benefit of Yolanda victims and Marawi siege survivors, respectively. They provided aid and relief to families affected by the earthquake in Ormoc, fire outbreaks in Cebu, and other calamities in the Visayas. Recently, they funded the construction of the first ever Malasakit Center in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, which brings together all government health agencies under one roof.
The group is also behind Binibining Cebu which aims to promote tourism in Cebu by highlighting the beauty of the Cebuana and the municipalities and cities they represent.
