CEBU, Philippines — Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc., is preparing to open the first one-stop-shop gas station in Cebu.
This signals Phoenix pioneering move to transform a mere gasoline station into a total one-stop-shop hub in Cebu, said lawyer Raymond Zorrilla, Phoenix Petroleum SVP for external affairs, business development and security.
In an interview yesterday on the sidelines of the launching of 3rd Phoenix Amateur Golf Tournament happening on June 22, 2018, Zorrilla said the nearly one-hectare Banilad Phoenix gas station that will soon open will be the first one-stop-shop gas station.
A one-stop-shop concept means the station will host a banking facility (like ATM), laundry shop, convenient stores, quick-service restaurants, and car wash, among others.
This is one of Phoenix Petroleum's non-fuel related business, which is also seen to boost the company's bottomline as fuel business is becoming more competitive with prices climbing up.
Of the 530 Phoenix gas stations around the country, 27 are located in Cebu province.
Phoenix Petroleum already established one-stop-shop gas stations in Luzon, and its station in Lanang, Davao is its flagship outlet.
Phoenix, controlled by tycoon Dennis Uy, acquired the SIAL CVS Retailers Inc, which was a joint venture among Ayala Land, the Rustan's group, Japan's FamilyMart Co. and ITOCHU Corp.
Early this week, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with China's CNOOC Gas and Power Corp to develop a liquefied natural gas terminal project in the Philippines.
The venture with CNOOC Gas and Power will broaden Phoneix's portfolio, which also includes cooking gas, asphalt, electronic transactions and convenience stores.
CNOOC Gas and Power is a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corp or CNOOC.
