When life gets rough

LIFE’S ESSENCE - Katherine R. Oyson - The Freeman

Life can get tough and rough with the problems and trials that come along our way. We have stressors at home, work, in our finances, our  relationships, and at times we get ill. These can be overwhelming. But our trust and faith in God’s goodness and mercy cannot be overpowered by any forces in this corporeal world. Like this sharing of Charles Swindol in his book, “Wisdom For The Way,”: “ …when a situation comes that cuts your feet out from under you, you don’t throw up your arms and panic. You don’t give up. Instead, you say, “Lord, this is your moment. This is where You take charge. You’re in this.”

Yes, no matter how overwhelming the challenge of life can be, we just don’t throw the towel and surrender. With the Almighty God on our side, nothing can topple us down. Nothing can  torn us to pieces because the Lord will never forsake us. If God is with us, who can be against us. God is so good and is good all the time. We must hold on to our faith and trust in the Lord – that what is impossible for  man is possible for God, and that we must persevere and be persistent in our prayer. As they said, “Prayer can move mountains,” as long as we don’t waiver in our faith and trust in the Lord.

Mark 11:24, reminds, “ …when you pray for something believe that you have received it, and you will be given what you ask for.”

There are other ways to do when the sailing of life is rough and tough. These are the following as cited by by Donna M. White of PsychCentral website:

Remember it’s only temporary.  Rest assured that this too shall pass. Whatever the situation is, there will be an ending. You just have to remain strong and allow  this notion to enable you to get through.

Surround yourself with positivity. We must surround ourselves with positive things. These positive things can include people, surroundings, readings, and any form of entertainment.  It is important to remain in a positive space.

Pay it forward. Sometimes the best way to forget about how tough things are for you is to realize other’s struggles and lend them a helping hand. Try helping someone else and see how much smaller your issues become – even if just  for a little while.

Practice gratitude. When we take the time to recognize and be thankful for the things that we have, we tend to think less of the things we lack.

Don’t be afraid. One of the biggest barriers to facing a tough situation is the fear of the unknown. The truth is, most of the fears we have never actually come to exists. Let go for your fears. They serve no positive purpose. They create negative energy and prevent us from moving forward.

Accept what is. Let go of what was, and have faith in the road ahead.

Look for the blessings. In every struggle we face, be willing to open our hearts and minds on the lesson that we can learn.

Live consciously in the moment. Appreciate the lessons found at each twist and turn of life.
