Manila's popular chicken restaurant opens in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Manila's popular restaurant offering charcoal-grilled chicken is now in Cebu.

Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar brings the best of Portuguese and African flavors to the island with the opening of its 12th branch at Meerea High Street, North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City.

The restaurant is named after the African Bird's Eye Chili discovered many centuries ago by Portuguese explorers in search of the famed spice route. The passion to bring the flavor of the spicy chili to palates everywhere and introduce a new way to enjoy chicken led to its first restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan in Metro Manila in 2006. It serves up spit-fire grilled dishes marinated in a unique blend of various herbs and spices brought in all the way from Africa. Since then, the homegrown brand expanded their reach by filling a gap between fast-food and fine dining.

“What we bring to the table is a fast casual concept dining—affordable dishes served within five to ten minutes but in a full restaurant setting in terms of ambiance, quality and service,” shared Mr. Bryan Tiu, the President of iFoods Corporation and visionary behind Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar.

For its Cebu operation, iFoods partnered with Vivo Sugbu Inc. headed by Chairman and CEO Mr. Eric Ng Mendoza.

"We saw the need to have more new concepts in Cebu that offer the winning formula of good food and value for money and we knew Peri-Peri would be a welcome addition in the city," Mendoza said.

The 210 sq. meter fast casual concept restaurant can seat up to 150 people and features vibrant interiors with two private function rooms.

Eating chicken is more fun at Peri-Peri since every order of chicken comes with eight signature sauces, a trademark of the brand and a first of its kind experience in Cebu. The spiced playful flavors include Ka Tuka’s Honey Pinakurat, a Filipino spiced vinegar, Hen Dynasty’s Hoisin Sesame which is sweet and tangy, the Poulet Vous Cajun Remoulade, a spiced mayonnaise dip, Apachee’kn Mesquite BBQ which is smoky, sweet and tasty, Tokyo Tori’s Sweet Soy which is teriyaki style, Sheik Chic’s Harissa Exotica, an exotic blend of spices, Count Cluckula’s Garlic Brew and the fiery Fowl-Mouthed Chili Peppa’.

Other items on the menu include their fall-off-the-bone tender BBQ Back Ribs, braised until tender Plata Porco, Fajitas, truffle-based Pasta Tartufo, pizzas, milkshakes and desserts.

Peri-Peri is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
