CEBU, Philippines - SKAL Philippines will revive its Cebu chapter in order to make strong representation in the upcoming Asian SKAL convention this year.
"We are scouting for someone to lead the SKAL Cebu Chapter," said SKAL chairman Robert Lim Joseph.
SKAL is an international non-governmental organization consisting of senior members and professionals of the tourism industry.
Cebu had been well represented in the SKAL International community but the group became inactive four years ago after the leadership of Plantation Bay Resort and Spa general manager Efren Belarmino.
According to Joseph, there is a need to revive the organization in order to put Cebu (once again) in the international map, specifically closer to the global tourism stakeholders and players.
The recent appointment of PAL executive Jimmy Bautista as head of SKAL Makati signifies a more active participation of the Philippines in the international community.
It's about time to push the button once again, said Joseph referring to the good tourism reputation of the Philippines in the international market.
Joseph, who is also consultant to Tourism secretary Wanda Teo, added that the country should exhaust every source of promotional venue to showcase the country, considering that advertising budget is too limited.
The active participation of private sector players to SKAL International is a good gesture of support to further push the Philippines as a preferred vacation and leisure destination among global travelers. (FREEMAN)
