Regional airline to hold countrywide travel sale

CEBU, Philippines - Singapore Airlines’ regional wing, SilkAir, is bent on taking a considerable share of the strong appetite of Filipinos to travel by hosting a simultaneous three-day travel fair in Cebu and Manila.

Deemed as the largest countrywide travel sale for SilkAir, the event also coincides with the 50th celebration of Singapore Airline's anniversary in the Philippines. In Cebu, the travel sale will be held on February 19-21 at the new wing of Ayala Center Cebu.

SilkAir Philippines manager Ganesh Peruma said in a press conference yesterday the airline’s objective to provide easier and affordable access to overseas destinations through a collaboration with the Bank of the Philippine Island, and Globe Telecom.

Now on its second year, SilkAir is boosting its attractive fare packages for popular destinations like Singapore, Japan, Korea, for as low as US$150 (vice versa), and travel perks to those who will book their flights during the three-day fair.

SilkAir flies 12 times a week from Cebu to Singapore. From Singapore, which is its regional hub, its mother carrier Singapore Airlines will connect travelers to its 50 destinations around the world.

"SilkAir joins in to celebrate SIA's huge milestone of 50 years in the Philippines with amazing fares to over 50 destinations around the world. We provide seamless connectivity from the Visayas and Mindanao regions to the greater SIA network," added Perumal.

Discounted fares are also available on the online booking channel, using the BPI credit card, also applicable for installment mode, said Julienne Irene C. Chiong, BPI regional head for market and strategy development division.

Although, SilkAir is known for its premium and service value, Perumal said the airlines' offer is very competitive.

SIA and SilkAir's  KrisFlyer members, BPI credit cardholders, Globe Platinum customers, as well as Ayala Center Cebu shoppers are in for a treat as SIA offers all-inclusive round trip promotional fares valid for purchase from February 1 to 29 (2016) and for travel until end of December this year.
