CEBU, Philippines – Exploiting the good appetite of the domestic market for world class furniture and home accents, Metamorfose Philippines, Inc. opens its first mall-based showroom at the Ayala Center Cebu.
The 300 square meters Metamorfose store-showroom located at the third floor of the expansion wing of Ayala Center Cebu is the company’s “test venture” in a shopping mall, said Metamorfose Philippines, Inc. president Hein Chrispijn.
The company signed a six-month contract with Ayala Center, and depending on the market’s response, Chrispijn said the company may pursue a permanent store in the shopping mall.
Last year, Metamorphose joined a bazaar inside the mall for a three-month display, within the shopping months of October to January.
“It was a good three months for us,” Chrispijn said.
Based on the company’s performance in the last couple of years, especially in the recent months, the Dutch designer noted a tremendous appetite of the domestic market for world-class, export-quality furnishings, not only from residential buyers, but significantly from the institutional market, such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, restobars, and condominiums.
Aside from attracting walk-in customers, the opening of the Ayala Center showroom is also meant to give convenience to its clients, saving them from juggling with “terrible” traffic going to the company’s manufacturing plant and bigger showroom in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City, he said.
The Ayala Center store displays at least ten different collections, which provides a glimpse of the brand’s wide array of creations, said Chrispijn in an interview with The FREEMAN.
He said the company is also entertaining possibilities of opening a mall-based showroom in Metro Manila, similar to its arrangement with the Ayala Center Cebu.
Metamorfose, a brand that equates to finer things, now makes 60 percent to 70 percent of its product for domestic market, owing the phenomenal growth of investments of new hotels, resorts, retail hubs, and the upgrading programs of existing accommodation facilities around the country.
It also makes customized or personalized furniture pieces to suit the distinct furnishing requirement of the condominium dwellers.
Known for its extraordinarily-designed outdoor furniture pieces, Metamorfose is one of the most active furniture companies in Cebu that successfully caught the domestic market’s attention – from top-tier buyers, to mainstream retail clients. (FREEMAN)
