Sun Life named Asia’s life insurance company of the year
CEBU, Philippines – Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. was recognized across the region in the 19th Asia Insurance Industry Awards (AIIA) 2015 held in Singapore, where it was named “Life Insurance Company of the Year.” This is the first time that a Filipino company was bestowed the prestigious award.
“We are very proud of the recognition afforded our Philippine operations,” said Kevin Strain, Sun Life Financial Asia President. “Its outstanding showing among so many accomplished peers stands as a testament to the strength of its operations and the outstanding teams driving it.”
The AIIA has become a sought-after mark of excellence and peer group endorsement for insurance players and professionals in the market. The backbone of the Awards is the 29 judges drawn from a cross-section of industry leaders, regulators, and experts. Major criteria in the Life Insurance category included setting leading professional standards for other insurers to follow, improving life insurance protection and savings levels in the market, demonstrating in-depth knowledge and understanding of the region through strategies and operations, and responsiveness to the needs of customers and intermediaries.
In a statement following the recognition, Sun Life Philippines President and CEO Riza Mantaring expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all Sun Life employees and advisors in the Philippines, who, she cited, have contributed significantly to the company’s success all these years.
“It is their tremendous work, passion, and excellence in everything they do that have fueled our rise. They are indeed a vital cog in achieving greater heights,” she said.
Strain added: “Our underlying goal in everything we do wherever we are, is to help our customers achieve lifetime financial security. That includes markets like the Philippines, where we have more than 120 years of history.”
Earlier, Sun Life Financial Philippines was also honored by the People Management Association of the Philippines with the Employer of the Year Award for its exemplary leadership and people-management practices. It was the first time that an insurance company was given the said honor, since its inception 38 years ago. (FREEMAN)
