Phl constructors gear up for ASEAN integration

CEBU, Philippines - With the anticipated effects of the ASEAN integration, industry players of the Philippine construction industry are now gearing up for the challenges even without the help of the government.

This according to Philippine Constructors Association executive director Manolito P. Madrasto at the sidelines of the launching of the 5th PhilConstruct Visayas to be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel this coming June 5-7, 2014.

Madrasto added that, "we just have to move, regardless if the government is preparing or not."

He said the free-flow of professionals within the ASEAN region is a "given" effect, and that contractors, developers, architects, interior designers, and other players in the booming construction and real estate industry in the Philippines are already anticipating the possible impact.

Meanwhile, the Philconstruct Events, Exhibitions and Conferences Corporation  and the Cebu Contractors Association Inc., are set to tackle this issue, as well as introduce world-class and technology updates to industry players during the two-day exhibition next month.

Madrasto said that industry players should take advantage of events like PhilConstruct as the industry now anticipates a wider scope of competition in terms of professionals, skills, as well as investment opportunities.

"Not only that, this is the only event that truly invests in the future of the industry by cultivating skills, featuring Technoforum Visayas, a very highly informative technical seminar bringing together industry experts and key players to share their expertise and knowledge in the construction sector," said CCA president Peter Paul Dy Jr.,

The exhibit expects to attract over 200 participants with more than 8,000 visitors. (FREEMAN)
