Minglanilla reclamation and industrial park: Ecozone developer still awaits approval for big ticket project
CEBU, Philippines - Ming-Mori Development Corporation is set to kick off the construction of the Minglanilla Reclamation and Industrial Park once the company gets the approval of the Public Reclamation Authority.
Deemed to be the first-of-its-kind public-private partnership with a local government unit, the Minglanilla Industrial Park is expected to address the current shortage of ecozones in the province.
Located at the coastal roads of Barangay Tulay and Barangay Calajo-an, the proposed project is intended to house at least 50 local and foreign direct investors engaged in light and semiconductor industries.
Ming-Mori Development Corporation chairman Jose Soberano III said they have received several endorsements from various government agencies to date.
“After ma-serve ang mga permits, we shall then start the construction,†he said, adding that they hope to start the project by the second quarter of this year.
He further noted that the reclamation project will initially occupy 100 hectares of property which will then be expanded to 200 hectares eventually.
Once fully developed, the industrial park is expected to provide about 100,000 employment opportunities in the local job market.
It will undergo five phases of construction and is set to be completed in less than five years.
Soberano earlier described the project as strategically located with the emergence of the connecting road to South Road Properties that could provide companies with the access and proximity to the metropolitan area.
Soberano is also the president and chief executive officer of Cebu Landmasters, Inc. which is currently geared towards industrial estate in addition to its residential developments for the middle and low market segments, economic and socialized housing, and commercial and office projects. (FREEMAN)
