CEBU, Philippines - Local smartphone maker StarMobile enters the active mobile market in the Visayas by opening its flagship store in Cebu this coming Saturday at the Ayala Center Cebu.
StarMobile head for marketing Katrina M. Tioseco said that the new StarMobile store will deliver best value mobile devices and solutions to Cebu and the rest of Southern Philippines.
Leading the pack, she said, are the 12 new Android devices that include quad core tablets, large screen phablets and sleek smartphones that will rival today's most popular brands in the market.
The Philippines is now one of the fastest growing markets for smartphone devices, IDC announced earlier.
"Leveling up the opening day thrill, StarMobile brings to town its Gold Rush Promo, a limited time special treat for shoppers that will run from November 30 to December 8 only.
Earlier this year, GFK's data showed that the Philippines is considered the fastest growing market in Southeast Asia in terms of smartphone adoption, with 146 percent growth within over 12 months.
On the other hand, IDC said that the Philippines' smartphone usage now hits the four million-mark and is rising faster.
About 53 percent of the smartphone adoption is in Metro Manila and significant growth is also noted in other cities and provinces in the Philippines.
In line with the company's cause to help the typhoon "Yolanda" victims, Tioseco announced that StarMobile pledged a portion of its nationwide November 2013 sales, including those that will come from the promo, to be donated to the Red Cross.
Despite the growing popularity of smartphones like the Apple iPhone and the recently released Samsung Galaxy S3, StarMobile said the bulk of all mobile phone users still carry lower-priced "feature phones" in their pockets.
StarMobile, a local maker of quality Android phones and tablets, was established by Star Telecom Alliance Resources (STAR, Inc.), a group of telecommunications industry experts based locally and internationally.
By combining excellent produce development, sales and marketing and customer service competencies over the past decades, "we respond to the needs of Filipinos by providing quality dual SIM mobile phones and solutions with localized software content." — (FREEMAN)
