13th PMAP confab expects over 150 participants

CEBU, Philippines - More than 150 participants are expected to attend the 13th Regional Conference of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) that will run from August 22 to 23 at the Radisson Blu in Cebu City.

Dubbed with the theme “Tomorrow’s HR:  Rethink, Reinvent, Rebuild”, this year’s conference shall gather human resource and people managers, business executives, and leaders from the academe, religious and government sectors. 

It will feature the use of innovative approaches, highlight advocacies and showcase inspiring case studies and latest trends in human capital management.

Topics to be tackled include human resource branding, qualities of an effective people ambassador, the power of social media and latest technology, role of human resource in managing workplace drama, weaknesses of a human resource team and how to solve such, strategies for human resource to succeed in family-owned companies and rewarding the department accordingly.

Issues on why people hate human resource, how should a human resource practitioner communicate, how long can the human resource department let poor performs hang around and what if the human resource department itself is the problem for the company will also be discussed.

Speakers include Butch Jimenez of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, Angus Murray of Fluor Daniel, Joanne Weston of MBTI, James Matti of Towers Watson, Christine Rom of PODD, Mia Cuenco of Visayas Electric Company, Diosdado Codoy of Cebu City Marriott Hotel, Art Zamora of Julie's Franchise Corp., Rosandrea Gaddi of DDI and Mario Silos of Intellicare.

Registration fees are priced at P5,300 for PMAP members and P6,000 for non-PMAP members.

Last year,  around 200 attendees and delegates from PMAP and non-PMAP companies participated during the 12th PMAP Regional Conference held last July 26 to 27.

PMAP is a non-stock, not-for-profit organization with over 1800 member companies and individual management executives engaged and interested in human resource management and industrial relations work nationwide.

In Cebu, it has over 186 member-companies of HR managers, practitioners and consultants. /JMD (FREEMAN)
