The stars and the senatoriables
May 14, 2001 | 12:00am
Like in early morning TV shows and sappy magazines, horoscopes, stars and destiny are the main staple of many websites. Just type "Horoscope" on either the Yahoo or Excite search box and a gazillion sites come up, with some offering free counseling services. Some even go as far as searching their databases for lovers and searchers for one’s perfect, custom-made mate.
Maybe the arrangement of my stars fated me to find PinoyAstrologer.com, a "total Astrology site for Filipinos" that is designed and created to "introduce to the Filipino the value, wisdom and the practical use of Astrology." PinoyAstrologer is the brainchild of Resti Santiago, an astrology writer who publishes a weekly column in Woman Today and is a regular contributor to two daily newspapers.
PinoyAstrologer.com offers the common mish-mash of love and sex horoscopes, relationships and financial counseling, a free personalized astrology reading (just fill up a form), a Forecast Review section that looks back on predictions that have come true, and an Astrology 101 section for those who want to know more about the science of "seeing the signs."
There is also a summarized weekly forecast for those who want a quick read of the days ahead. For the week May 7 to 14, Santiago notes that "the full moon in the sign of Scorpio facilitates letting go and healing." "The energy of this week’s lunation can help us overcome inner barriers," he adds. "Emotional tranquility can be achieved a meaningful storm (sic)." Hmm...whatever.
But what makes Pinoy-Astrologer.com different from other sites of its kind is its election-related stuff. Check out what the stars – and the planets – say on the "possible" destinies of candidates vying for various elective positions. Who among the candidates will get elected to a Senate seat? Who will perform well once elected? Will it be 13-0 for the People Power Coalition? These and other queries are answered as Santiago evaluates the zodiac signs of the senatorial candidates and what they reveal in terms of the candidates’ respective talents and abilities.
Check out, too, Santiago’s takes on recent headlines. He says of the controversy on the recent Bangsamoro Republic declaration: "With the opposition between Jupiter and Pluto, all issues that have a connection with religion and culture must be dealt with caution. Agitation can easily turn into another full-blown war in Mindanao... Diplomacy and tact are needed."
On the President’s safety and government: "She has in chart as well in the horoscope of her government the sign of danger. Mars square Uranus, an indicator of violence, is present in her chart... Even if the trouble recently caused by the supporters of Erap trooping to Malacañang is over, danger still looms. An assassination attempt may also be brewing. The President must be protected."
For those still undecided on whom to vote on May 14, you may want to visit PinoyAstrologer.com and let the stars vote for you.
