This spirited scientist who set up UP Dilimans molecular and biotechnology department and is still chairperson of the agri-biotech committee of the Department of Agriculture, still dons her lab gown, but half of her day is now spent on overseeing Arnichem Corp. with her husband Dr. Ponciano Halos, also a respected agriculture scientist.

[Summary] => Enalapril, which belongs to a class of anti-hypertensive drugs known as the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, protects kidney function similar to another class of medicine for high blood pressure. This was shown by a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The study showed that the decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) considered the best measure of kidney function in the enalapril group (composed of 74 patients) is -14.9 ml per minute per 1.73 m.

[Summary] => The Philippine Academy of Esthetic Dentistry will begin its hands-on workshop on Oct. 20 at the PAED Training Center on Escriva Drive, Pasig City.
This is in line with PAEDs mission to "Create More Beautiful Filipino Smiles" by teaching other dentists on the trends and traditions of esthetic dentistry. It will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and run for 10 Sundays.
There will be detailed lectures on the techniques and materials to cover the scientific foundations of the beauty of dentistry.
