CAC informed the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that the recall is part of a worldwide recall program being made by Korea’s Kia Motors Corp. (KMC).


A KMC analysis showed the identified fuel assembly part  might manifest fatigue after a long period of usage which could lead to cracking and possible fuel leakage.

                    [Summary] => The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said yesterday it is aware of the possible increase in the prices of canned goods should the proposed seven percent tariff on tinplates be implemented.


However, DTI Undersecretary Adrian S. Cristobal said "the DTI has made no final position yet" and that it is still studying the impact of the tariff increase on various products.


He clarified that "although we would want to make the operation of the National Steel Corp. (NSC) become more viable, we are also mindful of Filipino consumers who buy canned goods."

The first approach is to evaluate marketing plans of companies that are the subject of inquiries from the general public.


Second, Cristobal said, the DTI pursues administrative action, and if necessary, prosecutes cases.
