[Title] => Armstrong's fall from grace may help cycling
[Summary] => Cycling supporters say that Lance Armstrong's fall from grace, while sad, may benefit the sport in the future by demonstrating to potential cheaters what can happen to them — eventually — if they dope.

[Summary] =>
Had it not been for Michael Jordan, Karl Malone and Charles Barkley could have their championships rings before they retired. For Jan Ullrich, a cancer survivor from Austin, Texas, was his number 23.

[Title] => Basso dances the Disco
[Summary] =>
While the move was certainly provocative, DISCOVERY CHANNEL's (DC) signing of Ivan Basso for 1.5M Euros per year for the next 2 years was no surprise.
When Basso was released by FASSA BARTOLO after 2003, Lance Armstrong and US POSTAL (DC before 2005) pursued the Italian. Instead, he went to CSC for less money and a sole leadership in the grand tours. Basso's decision was right for he was the only rider to legitimately challenge Armstrong in the next two tours.

[Title] => The man who would be king
[Summary] => It is hard to pick the winner of the 2006 Tour de France since Lance Armstrong retired last year. Lance simply made it a habit of being the favorite and made everybody a good prognosticator.
But this year, there are three rides who can really win although some of you might disagree to my choices. Here are my top 3 in order of finish:
1. Alejandro Valverde, Spain (Caisse d'Epargne). Who's he? You may not have heard of this Spanish rider but I can assure you that you'll get to know him better in 3 weeks.

[Title] => Where's Jan Ullrich?
[Summary] => Every cycling fan is fascinated by Jan Ullrich. After winning and dominating the 1997 Tour de France in just his third (1997) season as a young 24 yo pro, he was tagged as the new "Eddy Merckx", the one who was going to break the record of TdF's wins. (The record number of TdF wins until 2003 was five each for Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain and Lance Armstrong. Lance made it 7 consecutive TdF's last year.) With his age and physical stature similar to the great ones, he was unanimously voted as the new "Cannibal".

[Title] => Eight Pretenders
[Summary] => If there ever is a time that Lance Armstrong is vulnerable, this tour is it. It doesn't surprise me if his mind starts to ask him if it is still worth chasing a 7th tour when six consecutive wins are already a record in itself.
