Thousands of Antiqueños flocked the plaza to witness the various activities of the festival, especially the impressive performance of tribes in the Malay-ati contest. The competition is Antique’s version of the Mardi Gras, with street dancing and a P100,000 prize for the winner. This year, the honor went to the Tribu Urukay of the Anini-y town.

"Taxi units will have an assigned color and names instead of the usual taxi names," Gordon added. He noted the measure would surely minimize abuses by taxi drivers, particularly over-charging.

However, Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines remain at Level 2.

Tourism Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab said this a welcome development.

"We have been working so hard to ask the Japanese government to lift the Level 2 as soon as possible. Our objective is for the Level 2 to be lifted completely," Palabyab said.
