[Title] => If the good Lord is willing
[Summary] => "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for them who trust in Him." - Nahum 1:7

A line from a song that barber shop quartets like to sing goes, "If the Lord be willing, and the creek don’t rise." While it was neither an English major nor a theologian who wrote those lines, it does bring a powerful question into focus: "To what extent does God will that the creek doesn’t rise?" And there’s a second, "Why doesn’t God stop it when the creek overflows and turns into a flood?"

Going one on one with God is not something to be considered lightly.

Jacob went one on one with God when he wrestled with the angel. His cry was, "I won’t let you go until you bless me." Moses went one on one with God when he pled for the people he was leading.

[Summary] => "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?" – Jeremiah 32:27

"Is there any hope?" That’s the question that anxious relatives ask the doctor when a loved one is admitted to the emergency ward of a hospital following an accident. It’s the same question that a friend asks when he learns that a marriage is hanging in the balance. "Is there any hope?"

"How are things going?" you ask a friend.

"You really want to know?"

"Sure."
