Four sea marshals who showed bravery as they assisted the passengers of M/V SuperFerry 9 that sank off the Zamboanga Peninsula last year, will receive commendations from the London-based International Maritime Organization (IMO) in November.

The Coast Guard identified the two as Daniel Roxas Bobila and Edito Bobila, whose baggage was found to contain ammonium nitrate, four cans of Detia gas, four cans of Phosphine gas, and a can of lighters.

Roving elements of Task Force Sea Marshal accosted the two men a few hours before the commercial vessel docked in Dumaguete, the Coast Guard said in a report.

The chemicals are used as fertilizer but are also an ingredient in the making of explosives .
