Scuba divers in the Philippine National Police are reportedly volunteering to help preserve the country’s classification as the world’s center of marine biodiversity. The offer is welcome and the country can use more volunteers. The classification was given in the Global Marine Species Assessment of the World Conservation Union. A study by the group also showed that the Verde Island Passage between Batangas and Mindoro is the "center of the center of marine shorefish biodiversity" in the world.
