This case may have some relevance to the on-going Subic rape case trial. It may serve as a guide on how to assess the credibility of the victim’s testimony like "Nicole". This is very important in view of the nature of the crime of rape when only two persons are usually involved, the assailant and the victim. Usually an accusation of rape can be made with facility; it is difficult to prove but more difficult for the accused, though innocent, to disprove. So the testimony of the victim must be scrutinized with extreme caution.

[Summary] => A void contract is equivalent to nothing, it produces no civil effect. Parties to a void agreement cannot expect the aid of the law; the courts leave them as they are, because they are deemed in pari delicto or "in equal fault". This principle is illustrated in this case of Manuel and his twelve children on one hand and Tino on the other hand.
