[Title] => The talented Mr. Roco
[Summary] => I met Senator Raul Roco three times. The first was in February 1998. Along with other presidential candidates, we invited him to present his platform for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights at the UP Film Center. I was the emcee at that event. Many of the presidentiables came. Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago was there, and her staff told me that the good senator wanted me to read her whole CV. Which I did, and the CV was at least 10 pages long.

[Title] => Miseducating the Filipino - CHASING THE WIND by Felipe B. Miranda
[Summary] => Without proper education, democracy is no more than a fanciful proposition. Those who extol this political regime often forget the severe demands it makes of the citizenry. Without these demands being met, democrats are in danger of romanticizing a perversion of "people power", a phenomenon which will be hard to distinguish from an ochlocracy or in the more vulgar language of the streets mob rule.
