[Title] => City needs to amend tax law to tax armored cars and hearses
[Summary] =>
The Cebu City government needs to amend its existing tax ordinance before it can impose delivery tax on bank's armored vans and hearses operating in the city.
Acting city attorney Rodolfo Golez said the plan of the city to impose the delivery tax could not be done because it was not stated in the city tax code. The plan was hatched during the recent meeting of the City Traffic Operations Management board.
In other local government units, delivery trucks are subjected to a delivery tax from P500 to P1,000 a year.

[Title] => Sanctions sought vs. traffic enforcers not arresting dispatchers
[Summary] =>
The city attorney's office is seeking sanctions against traffic enforcers who are not apprehending public utility jeepney dispatchers and watch-your-car boys.
Acting city attorney Rodolfo Golez said despite the city's anti-dispatching ordinance, traffic enforcers are still ignoring their task of apprehending dispatchers and watch-your-car boys.
But Councilor Augustus Pe Jr., a member of the City Council committee on police, is not in favor of giving the task of apprehending "extortionists in the streets" to the traffic enforcers.

[Title] => No default for city in condo hearings
[Summary] => The Cebu City government yesterday downplayed the motion of the occupants of the city-owned condominium for the city to be declared in default for failing to answer the summons issued by the court.
City lawyer Rodolfo Golez, who represents the city said the city cannot be declared in default because it was the fault of the defense lawyer Gil Diglasan Tanyag, who submitted an incomplete pleading.
"His pleading does not have page 2. How can we make our answer intelligently with an incomplete pleading," Golez said.
