It is my father’s 86th birthday, but he passed away 61 years ago. I never knew him really, but I miss him still. I notice that as I grow older, I miss him even more. All that because I did not know my father, who was taken from me and killed by the Japanese less than 24 hours before Manila was liberated. I lost him at the eleventh hour of the war. Every year that I think of him, I mourn more. This year, I have a different reason for mourning.
