[Title] => Has the Palace forgotten
[Summary] => For some time now, weve been puzzled with the frequency of attacks and threats towards Meralco and the rest of the private energy sector, all seemingly mounted by people close to and even within both the National Power Corp. (Napocor) and Malacañang.
In quick succession, there was the expose on Meralcos supposed P42-billion debt to Napocor and the bright idea of taking over the power distribution firm by converting the alleged debt into equity.

[Title] => Support for EO 474 snowballs
[Summary] => The clamor for the immediate implementation of the controversial Executive Order 474 creating the Philippine Strategic Oil, Gas, Energy Resources and Power Infrastructure Office continued to snowball.
This, as prices of oil and its derivative petroleum products continued to rise, posing a serious threat to the countrys economy.
This developed as three big transport groups announced earlier this week that they would file a petition for a fare increase after oil firms raised the pump prices of oil by 50 centavos per liter.

[Title] => EO 474 seen to drive away investors in power sector
[Summary] => The Private Electric Power Operators Association (PEPOA) has described Executive Order 474 as a deterrent to investments in the power industry.
In a statement, PEPOA said the formation of an "energy superbody" will not attract new investments nor lower electricity prices.
"We are concerned over recent reports that some groups are backing the creation of this energy superbody, not knowing of the dire consequences it will inflict on the privatization of the power industry," PEPOA executive director Ranulfo Ocampo said.
