MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang has directed the Department of Education to look into the proposal of the country’s public school teachers for a P9,000 increase in their monthly salary.

Villar said the bank would give public school teachers something to rely on during financial difficulties.       

"Almost all of us are aware that most teachers are having a hard time making both ends meet," Villar said.
