[Title] => Mayor tagged in journalists slay
[Summary] => A suspect arrested for the murder of newspaper publisher Philip Agustin has pointed to Dingalan, Aurora Mayor Jaime Ylarde as the one who had ordered the hit. The mayor denies the accusation.
Reynaldo Morete, a 38-year-old heavy equipment helper, gave the statement to National Bureau of Investigation Director Reynaldo Wycoco and other NBI officials during a press conference yesterday afternoon.
Morete claimed his cousin Nilo "Boyet" Morete, the alleged gunman, reportedly told him: "Kailangan nang tirahin si Philip Agustin dahil mainit si mayor, dahil lagi siyang tinitira sa press (Philip Agustin must be taken out because he has earned the mayors ire, because he is always being attacked in the press)."
When Morete asked his cousin whom he meant by "the mayor," Boyet reportedly replied: "Mayor Ylarde."
