[Title] => The performance of bigness
[Summary] => Oftentimes, we evaluate a film or a play based on the caliber of acting, the performance so to speak. Drama requires the bodily presence of trained and able people whose demonstration of skills is the performance (this notion of public exhibition of technical skill is the traditional definition of "performance"). There is Tom Cruise in Magnolia, Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves, Beat Takeshi in Battle Royale and Snooky Serna in Blusang Itim.

[Title] => Always Radiant
[Summary] => Does she really need any introduction? From Kim to Eponine, Broadway to the West End, to providing sweet voices for Disney heroines, to selling out concerts – other stars may speak of their "time to shine," but Lea Salonga has been incandescent for as long as we’ve known her. Her latest forays into the public consciousness have been onstage as a pregnant single mom for Atlantis Production’s Baby: A Musical and as a literally untouchable shampoo endorser, protected by a cadre of post-cyberpunk bodyguards; but it was her wedding at the beginning of the year that had Filipinos across the globe watching her every move.
"Once we walked down the aisle for the first time as a married couple… the flashbulbs were going off, and that’s when it became obvious that this affair wasn’t that private. I knew that because of how I’m seen by my countrymen, they would want to share this special day with me." That special day, long in coming, was her wedding in January 2004 to longtime boyfriend Robert Chien.
Now settled in Los Angeles, the city where she and Rob first met and where their wedding was held, Lea tells us of the inevitable changes in her life and career now that she begins a new chapter apart from stage and screen.
"It’s no longer just about me anymore," she allows. "I’m sure that feeling’s going to be magnified a thousand percent once children enter the picture." A family is on the way, though she leaves the particulars of that entirely in God’s hands.
